So when we went to Japin, our fav places to eat dinner was at these little bars called Izakaya, where you order lots of little dishes to go with your drank n share them with your friends. Out of those plates chicken gizzard was a big hit (ya, kinda weird) n we got them literally everywhere we went. Sooo here's a chicken gizzard dish that goes amazing with some beer (preferably Asahi or Yebisu) or a cup of chilled sake.
Ingreedients:
Chicken Gizzard (100 g)
Onions (1/2)
Red Miso (1 table spoon)
Sake (1 table spoon)
Soy Sauce (1 table spoon)
Black Sugar (1/2 table spoon)
Garlic (1 clove)
Ginger (1 piece)
Sesame Oil (1 table spoon)
Ra-yu (just a little biiit, depending on how spicy you want it to be)
1) Slice the gizzard into 5mm pieces after removing the hard crunchy white part.
2) Grind the garlic and ginger.
3) Combine red miso, sake, black suger, soy sauce, the garlic & ginger you just ground up, then mix it up.
4) Heat pan with sesame oil, and fry up the gizzard!
5) Once the gizzard is completely brown, add sauce and sliced onions. Cook until onions are squishy (unless you like crunchy onions).
6) Put it on a bed of baby greens n sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds on top.
TA-DA!
Eat it with rice (cuz we asians can't go one meal with out our rice) n some houjicha (teaaa) ♪♪
